We invite you to experience the Kips Bay Decorator Show House in Dallas at 2999 Turtle Creek Boulevard through November 13th. The nation's leading design event benefits the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club in New York, as well as two local Dallas charities: Dwell with Dignity, a nonprofit agency dedicated to providing homes for families struggling with homelessness and poverty, and The Crystal Charity Ball, whose mission is to aid, support and make contributions to children's charities in Dallas County. The Ladies' Room is a luxurious retreat featuring a striking blend of natural stone and iridescent glass mosaic tiles. The floor is comprised of Slide by Michelle Gerson, a custom-designed pattern in blush-hued Rosa Portogallo marble and charcoal grey Nuovo Antico Belgian Bluestone. The Rosa Portogallo is continued on the floors of the water closets, while the walls are adorned with Mississippi Moire, a recently introduced glass mosaic that evokes the feeling of rustling silk.

The deep pink hues of Arabescato Rosa marble add to the room's sensual atmosphere. As Ink + Oro Founder Tiffany Woodson notes, “I love the challenge of showing people how to use different materials in ways that are shocking to them. I think that often, people don’t know what is really good until you show them, and when people see that pink and grey floor, and all the things we’ve mixed it with, they are going to say ‘now, I really want a pink bathroom!’, which they had no idea they’d desire!”

Recognized as the nation's leading design event, the 2024 Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas is brimming with exceptional talent. For the past three years, the annual event has transformed grand homes in the lush, leafy neighborhood of Old Preston Hollow into lavish showpieces. This year, the Show House ventures to the prestigious Turtle Creek neighborhood, set in a stunning French Renaissance style mansion.

Tiffany's passion for natural stone is evident in both spaces. “I love working with stone – it is such a sexy material – it can be masculine or feminine. You can use it in whatever context you wish. It’s absolutely timeless. Natural stone, like a woman, gets better with time!”

Femme Fumoir

Creating a bespoke bathroom from scratch for the show house was a challenge Martha Champagne eagerly embraced. The Honduran-born, Texas-based interior designer brought her passion for natural stone to the project, sharing, "I really feel that you cannot go wrong with natural stone. So beautiful. So timeless. I don’t really know of any material that is more aesthetically appealing.”

The aptly named Femme Fumoir features a Parisian-chic aesthetic with a color palette of black, white, grey, and Traci's favorite, deep aubergine. “I think it’s an inherently classy color, and perfect for a Show House that opens just as autumn in Dallas really begins. I knew I wanted the natural stone detail to capture that color, and when I saw the Cipollino Ondulato, with all of my colors, and a hint of bold emerald green as well, I knew it was perfect..."

The dynamic swirls of the Italian marble adorn the countertop and one wall, forming a distinct grid pattern with Bianco Carrara Opus liners and custom-designed bronze liners from Bronzework Studios, available exclusively through Artistic Tile showrooms. Traci added a touch of vintage charm with an antique Bianco Carrara sink.

"...not to mention the billowing movement in the stone, which reminded me of puffs of cigar smoke!”

“I think that visitors will be able to picture a space like this in their own homes. Not only for cigar smoking, but for having a drink, sitting by the fire, or reading a book on the chaise. A place to escape to, and a place to entertain. And, to understand that things from the past, such as the Carrara sink, can be integrated with more modern things, and that with both, the space will stand the test of time.”

Martha chose Spot On by Michelle Gerson for the floor, a custom-cut pattern with a Calacatta Borghini background and spots of White Sand, Rosa Portogallo Rosa Perlino, Rosa Grecia, and Vanilla Onyx. Picking up the rosy tones of the bathroom floor tile, Martha lined the walls of the shower with Keys Pink Lady glass mosaic and Penny Lane Pink stone mosaic on the ceiling. To complete the luxurious look, Martha used Arabescato Corchia marble for the wainscoting and vanities

Florentine Inspiration Meets Timeless Design

Humanity Through Design

Martha's passion for natural materials and her desire to create a welcoming and inspiring environment are evident in every detail of this stunning bathroom. Reminiscing on her inspirational trip to Italy, Champagne shares that “being in Florence and in the Tuscan countryside, connected us all to nature and humanity in a very lively way. I wanted to bring that feeling to this space, and to elevate the spirits of all who visit, and the beautiful natural materials here are a big part of my response to that desire.”

Inspired by the iconic 'Birth of Venus' painting, Kate Figler envisioned this space as a luxurious ladies' drawing room that was welcoming and intimate. As Kate shares, “a space that says come on in, gather around, and enjoy each other’s company. It is a space that will transport you, into a different way of feeling, a different way of being. Formal doesn’t mean uncomfortable.”

To capture the painting's essence, Kate incorporated a soft palette of rose pinks and sea greens throughout the room. “My family and I had just seen this work on a trip to the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, so it was very fresh in my mind. The color palette is super-feminine, the presence of nature so strong, the floral elements so inspiring!”

A stunning dry bar made from Artistic Tile's Vivaldi Quartzite adds a natural touch of color and texture. This exquisite stone, sourced from Mongolia, complements the room's feminine aesthetic perfectly.
