Led by Monica Santayana and Ronald Alvarez, the Miami-based design firm MONIOMI transformed a playroom and cabana bath into a design that redefines Palm Beach luxury. “Instead of a tropical vibe, which is the ‘go to’, we wanted funky ‘fauna and flora’, a little darker and a little mysterious, because we didn't want a cliché green cabana. We always start with color.  We wanted to lean into the aubergines and the mauves and the coppers and the peaches. An illusion to a lovely garden on a warm evening.”  Drawn to Handloom Shadow Stripe's bold graphic and inherent balance, the team knew it was the ideal choice to complement the room's floral elements and introduce their signature touch of black.

“This is our first time being able to participate in this show house.  We wanted this cabana to be a connection between interior and exterior.  When we found the two colorways of Shadow Stripe, we realized that our design was not necessarily how others might use it, but we loved both colorways, we loved the scale, so we've played with that scale and checkered it.” The clever interplay of the two colorways extends seamlessly from the floor, through the shower and steam/sauna, and onto the ceiling of both.

Between Two Realms

Houston-based Meg Lonergan transformed an expansive, L-shaped outdoor patio—stretching over a hundred feet and essentially forming two galleries—into a lush paradise overlooking a garden, pool, and a striking cluster of towering mangroves. Inspired by the classicism of Ancient Greece, Meg created a series of distinct "rooms" reminiscent of a palatial enfilade. Beneath a Minoan-inspired ceiling fresco, hand-painted on fine natural burlap, and adjacent to a curved, inviting 8-person settee, Meg installed warm white cabinetry and a range with an integrated fridge, topped by a Palladium Arte marble counter and Windowpane Plaid Pink backsplash. “The mellow shades of rose and green against the graphite black ground were so beautifully tuned to the palette I envisaged, and I chose Windowpane Plaid Pink as my backsplash. I am just delighted by the softness of the rosy color drifting across the wall.”  Meg's masterful use of mosaic shines in her custom circular dining tabletop. She combined Xanadu Falls with a stunning waterjet-cut Helios motif of Breccia Pernice slab, creating a modern classic centerpiece. Encapsulating her work for this house, Meg says, “I am a classicist at heart, and that passion for classic materials expresses itself in my space repeatedly.”

The Continuum

Erin Shakoor's design unfolds in a circular entry shimmering with bronze horizontal ribbed wallcovering and draped in hot cocoa silk moiré. This space, punctuated by a series of rectangles and ovals, draws the eye to the focal point: a stunning wall featuring Duo, the two-part textured tile born from the ongoing collaboration between Artistic Tile and interior designer Alison Rose. “I often am drawn to a wonderful luxury material like Duo, but then look at it and think, ‘what can I do to this, how can I make us all look at it in a fresh way?’” Erin's answer to the design challenge was a touch of "disruptive design"—in the most artful way. Among the repeating Duo tiles, she utilized Opus 1 Viola Reale, a linear element that adds definition and heightened texture to the powder room's feature wall.

To complete the design, Erin customized the Tappeti Grand floor in a blend of Breccia Vino, Lilac Dark, Breccia Pernice, and Silver Wave. This angular mosaic, meticulously crafted in-house at our Production Studio, beautifully integrates the room's rich, deep palette. Erin sums up her work by sharing, “it’s a room that fully expresses what I, and the Shakoor team, can bring

to luxury design!”
